Malcolm Woodland, Ph.D.

Dr. Malcolm H Woodland is a clinical psychologist. He specializes in trauma treatment, phase-of-life adjustments, and working with adolescents. His eclectic treatment style incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, and physical wellness. Dr. Woodland also specializes in forensic and trauma assessment in capital murder and death penalty cases. He has worked in the field for nearly twenty years, starting as a staff psychologist and eventually becoming the chief psychologist at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. After leaving the superior court as the deputy director of juvenile probation, Dr. Woodland expanded his practice from forensics to providing trauma treatment, assessments, and psychological evaluations for US veterans.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Woodland also served as Executive Director of the Congressional Caucus on the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys, where he worked with members of the US Congress to educate, address, and create policy on issues facing Black men and boys.

His research on forensic psychological measurement has been published in several peer-reviewed and popular periodicals. ABC recently recognized Dr. Woodland as a Culture Catalyst, and his work with his non-profit organization, the Young Doctors Project, has been featured on nationwide network television and print media. Dr. Woodland completed his postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and attained his doctorate in clinical psychology from Howard University. He also completed his undergraduate studies at Tougaloo College in Mississippi.
